Anthraquinone and Biphenyl in dried feed
In recent months, several cases have been reported of pesticides in dried feed for which no plausible explanation could be given. Traces of two substances, prohibited for use within the European Union (Anthraquinone and Biphenyl), were identified in feed of vegetable origin, while the cause could not lie within the ‘cultivation’.
In 2015, the Scientific Committee (SciCom) was asked by the Belgian Federal Agency for safety of the food chain (FASFC) to provide a detailed opinion on this issue. An advice was published on April 15, 2016.
