10. Modification of FCA documents BT-11 and BT-16

FCA documents BT-11 and BT-16 have been modified.  Below, you can find more details regarding the modifications.

BT-11: Sampling and analysis

A first amendment to this document (points 3.3.1 and 3.3.2) refers to the conservation of samples by the supplier in exceptional cases. It is a clarification of the current conditions upon request of the public authorities. In Belgium, the FASFC has also communicated these conditions to all LCU’s.

A second amendment relates to the sampling by operators who perform drying of certain moist feed materials.

A third and final amendment is the addition of the possibility that the sampling by a trader can also be entrusted – on a voluntary base – to an accredited institution.

BT-16: Temporary monitoring

Following the recent evaluation of the aflatoxin results received in the past month, the document has been adjusted as follows:

  • The risk classification for Brazil changes from ‘Low’ to ‘Medium’.
  • The risk classification for Croatia changes from ‘Medium’ to ‘Low’.

These modifications must be applied as from February 23rd, 2018.

The periodic assessment is based on the received analysis results, which FCA certified companies are required to submit, and on analysis results from other feed certification schemes, and also on RASFF-notifications relating to Aflatoxin B1 in maize.

If your company, in the context of this protocol, has analysis results for Aflatoxin B1 in maize, be sure to send them to info@ovocom.be! This also applies if you did not have the analysis performed yourself, but you have received the analysis results from your supplier.

The BT-16 document also provides a clarification regarding the size of the maize sample which needs to be sent to and analyzed by the laboratory. This is a harmonized decision taken in consultation with the various schemes which have such a protocol.

This modification must be applied as from February 23rd, 2018.

Both documents are available on our website. The changes in this document are marked in grey text. The documents are also consultable in a version version without indicated changes.
