Summary ”RASFF notifications 2015” No. 4

A tool in order to adapt your hazard analysis

The 2015 review summary of all notifications issued by the RASFF (European Rapid Alert System for food and feed) and potentially interesting for operators belonging to the feed sector, was updated on 31 October 2015.

As a reminder, the summary 2015 is based on the same pattern as the 2014 summary, the only difference being that notifications related to food products, but which may also be of benefit for the feed sector, have been integrated.

The objective is not to be exhaustive. The option to include one or other notification shall depend on the assessment of the hazard and of the product. It is for this reason that microbiological issues related to food products based on meat or fish products are not registered.

From the headings of each column, you may select and sort on the basis of any information which may be of relevance to you (e.g. all notifications considered as “Alert”, all notifications relating to a group of products, all notifications concerning a same code for feed materials, etc.). The column “Remarks” has been used, when necessary, to complement existing information in the RASFF Notification.

It should be noted that the European website has undergone a recent adaptation, and that the last subsequent changes of the notifications shall no longer be visible. The data contained in our overview are therefore those received during the initial publication of the notification.

Here below, we provide you with a few findings that we have come up with, and which we believe is worthwhile sharing with you. Naturally this choice, like any choice, remains subjective, as the Excel spreadsheet allows for yet other possibilities.

The key findings for the period August-October 2015

  • We have retained 236 potentially interesting cases (all sectors combined) for the period of August-October 2015 (3 months).

  • During that period, only 57 RASFF notifications totalizing 65 hazards “feed” were communicated by the European Portal. None of them concerned an additive or premixture.
